Harding Charter Preparatory High School has received the “2011 College Readiness Award” for increasing the number of students taking the ACT Assessment over the past five years and significantly increasing their level of achievement and college readiness.  This award was given to 32 schools state wide and Harding Charter prep was one of the 32.

ACT, Inc. is the not for profit organization that provides assessment, research, information, and program management services in the broad areas of education and workforce development and the publisher of ACT Assessment. The ACT Assessment is the college admissions test that is used and accepted by all colleges nationwide and throughout Oklahoma. In 2011, over 76% of Oklahoma students took the ACT which is the predominant college admissions and readiness achievement in test in Oklahoma.

According to Karen L. Pennell, Assistant Vice President and ACT Southwest Regional Manager, “We wanted to recognize those Oklahoma high schools that have made significant strides in increasing the college readiness of their graduates as demonstrated by their ACT score increases over the past five years. This can only happen as a result of the high school’s faculty and staff efforts and the dedication of Harding Charter Preparatory High School students and parents to focus on college readiness and raise the level of college readiness for all students.

"Harding was my home away from home. I think that it is hard to find words to describe what this school has honestly done for me. I have learned many lessons such as how far I can push myself and what all I could handle. Harding IS hard but I always had wonderful teachers and the best of friends who were always there to help me through it all. College is nothing compared to Harding. When I wrote my first paper and got an A on it, I knew that it wasn’t going to be “too” bad.  I love Harding and the teachers I had and the friends I’ve made there. I couldn’t have honestly picture myself at any other high school. To any current students, if you feel like 3 DBQs and 2 FRQs in one week is too much, it is. The teachers at Harding do it on purpose and in the end you will thank them for pushing you to your limit."
