Kelli Taylor

Kelli Taylor graduated from Marietta High School as her class's valedictorian in 1999. From there, she traveled to Edmond where she attended the University of Central Oklahoma, earning her Bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education in May of 2004. She graduated from UCO Summa Cum Laude and was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta (top 10% of the freshman class), Kappa Delta Pi (educational honor organization) and Alpha Chi (top 10% of the junior and senior classes).

Kelli most recently earned her Master's in Music from UCO in summer 2011.

During her time at UCO, Kelli performed with the marching band both as a flutist and a percussionist, the concert band, the wind ensemble, the symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, flute ensemble, as well as various solo and small ensemble pursuits. 

Currently, Kelli directs the band and orchestra, advises the online student news site and yearbook, teaches beginning journalism, and maintains the school website. During her time with these groups, she has received thousands of dollars in grant money, the band and orchestra have competed at numerous contests, and her students have been recognized across the state as musicians, writers, and journalists. This will be her 14th year with HCP, and 15th teaching. In the spring of 2016, she was honored with the title of HCP Teacher of the Year.

Kelli is an active member of OMEA, CODA, and Oklahoma Scholastic Media.

Kelli lives in Oklahoma City with her husband, Kevin, an attorney who graduated with his Bachelor's from UCO in 2003 and his Juris Doctorate from OCU in 2009. The Taylors welcomed the addition of their daughter in 2015.
